The World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) is an association of 94 independent organizations in 40 states and the District of Columbia that work to engage and educate Americans on international affairs and foreign policy. All member organizations are non-profit, non-partisan, and maintain an open membership policy - everyone is welcome to join!

Register now for the 2010 National Conference, "US Foreign Policy: Into the Next Decade," November 3-5, 2010 in Washington, DC!
The World Affairs Councils of America's National Conference, held annually for over a decade, has earned a reputation as the place to meet and mingle with some of the most well-regarded national and international personalities and policymakers.

The World Affairs Councils of America welcomes four new councils to our growing network! They are, respectively, Princeton Council on World Affairs, World Affairs Councils of Atlanta, World Affairs Council of Harrisburg, and World Affairs Council of Rochester, New York.

"Stand Up, Take Action: Make a Noise for the MDGs," a world-wide mass mobilization campaign to raise awareness and to impact policy regarding the Millennium Development Goals will take place from September 17-19, 2010, with a global day of action on Saturday, September 18. COUNCIL UPDATES

The Vermont Council on World Affairs and the Foreign Policy Association are joining forces with Norwich University to offer the first online Great Decisions course!

On Tuesday, September 7, 2010, the World Affairs Council of Western North Carolina will hold a panel discussion on earth-quake ravaged Haiti. Dr. Tim Plaut leads the panel of regional medical and volunteer service people who have recently worked in Haiti through the Mission Manna project. Dr. Matthew Kahn, Professor at the UCLA Institute of Environment, will hold a lecture titled "Climatopolis: Adaptation to a Warmer Climate" at the World Affairs Council of Northern California on Wednesdsay September 8, 2010. Dr. Kahn will examine the ironic role of capitalism in both causing and potentially fixing climate change. For more information click here .

On Thursday September 9, 2010 , the Alaska World Affairs Council is hosting a lecture entitled "Hong Kong: A Destination and Gateway to China for the US" with Donald Tong Chi-keung, Commissioner of Economic and Trade Affairs. Jere Van Dyk, Journalist for CBS News , will present his book Captive: My Time as a Prisoner of the Taliban at the World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana on September 15, 2010. In his book, Van Dyk recounts what truly happened to him when he was put in prison. Click here for more information.
