September 6 | The Impact of Gun Violence on the Education of Our Youth
The World Affairs Council of Sonoma County will host two speakers: Mike Thompson, Representative to Congress for California's 5th District, and Kelly Drane, Research Manager at the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Mr. Thompson serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and is the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chairman. In this presentation, they will take a closer look at school shootings and their possible implications.
China’s rise during the past four decades has been impressive and consequential, but further advances may be slower and more difficult to achieve. The challenges ahead will be much harder to meet and the choices Beijing makes will have a bigger impact on China’s future than the actions of the U.S. or other nations. Dr. Thomas Fingar, Shorenstein Asia Pacific Research Center Scholar at Stanford University, will discuss these implications at this speaker event with the World Affairs Council of Sonoma County.
