From the Cuban Missile Crisis to Iran: Confronting the Nuclear Threat is a World Affairs Councils of America Engage America Speaker Series. The program is funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The grant is part of its broader Nuclear Security initiative under their International Peace and Security Program.
Drawing from the World Affairs Councils of America's Six Top Issues, the series will focus on the lessons of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the history of the past 50 years of arms control and proliferation. The program coincides with this year's Academic WorldQuest topic: Cuban Missile Crisis: 50th Anniversary.
Top nuclear security experts will cover the broad range of issues and multifaceted challenges presented by nuclear weapons and will address some of the most pressing and time urgent issues before the international community today. The keynote speakers for the Council events are leading experts from various institutions. Nine councils across the country are participating in the program.
