The U.S.-Japan alliance plays a vital role in the Asia-Pacific region to defend the interests and values of the United States and its allies. The alliance has also served as the foundation to strengthen other areas of the U.S.-Japan relationship, including economic, trade, people-to-people, and cultural ties.
